Mission Statement 2009-2010My name is Warner Nickerson and I’m striving to secure a berth on the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team. We must regard ski racing not as a sport of brute force, using muscle rather than mind, nor as a drag race of human inertia; but as an art form, where the best athletes carefully craft each turn with the utmost precision and accuracy. Ski racing is a sport for thinkers, a sport comprised of meticulously controlled aggression with one objective: posting the fastest two-run time. The road to Vancouver is a two-part process, where completion of both components is equally vital. First, I must secure a World Cup starting position through time trials throughout the season. Secondly, I must score World Cup points and must be ranked in the top four in the United States based off of World Cup points in a discipline leading up to the Vancouver Games. After reading the U.S. Olympic Criteria there are certainly going to be some fireworks because the alpine team size is limited to 22 athletes with a maximum of 14 in one gender to compete in all five events. Now that Bode is back it will change the dynamic, but really fast skiing from top to bottom is the only answer. Please consider donating to support the campaign! |
